18 years ago today I opened the doors to The Counties of Ireland...a 24 year old girl jumping both feet in and praying that others would love the exact things I adored about Ireland! I remember that day like it was yesterday...it was a Thursday and it was a beautiful, sunny & warm day. The store was filled with family, friends and local community members for my ribbon cutting...and I was a nervous wreck! My family and friends are what got me through that day and have been the most amazing support for the last 18 years.
Alot has changed over the years, both personally (married and a mom now), in the store and in the community. Other people now see what I saw about Troy those many years ago...and architectural amazing city with an astounding history and bonus, it's completely walk-able. This now "posh" city is a destination for shopping, dining and activities. With rows of shops, galleries, bars/pubs, and food galore...it's exciting to see and feel the buzz on the street everyday!
Even though a lot has changed, the one thing I have worked very hard on is my commitment to my customers. I love my customers both existing and new. I have watch children grow up...sizing them for their first Claddagh ring to sizing them for this Irish Wedding Bands. The New Born gifts, Christening gifts, First Communion gifts, Birthday gifts, Wedding gifts, House Warming gifts, and back to New Born gifts...coming full circle with some customers. Some stopping by to just chat...those are some of the best day!
I promised the day I opened that I would stock Irish goods crafted in Ireland by Irish hands. I do admit that I have now brought in a line from Scotland and three lines completely manufactured in the USA...but I think that is ok! I promised I would bring new and exciting lines into the US, sometimes being the first shop in the US to stock some of these lines. I have introduce about a dozen lines to the US. I promised to provide the best customer service. I believe, and hope that you do too, that I have successfully done that. So from the bottom of my heart...Thank you! Thank you to my family and friends for you amazing support on this journey. Thank you to my customers for their continued business, I truly appreciate you...here's to the next 50 years!
