Wild Rose Pottery was established by Maureen & Barry Payne in 1975.  They built their pottery studio on their country property, 30 miles NE of Winnipeg, in 1978.

Maureen is the original potter having been trained in England before they immigrated to Canada in 1967. She graduated with an Advanced Ceramic Diploma from the Cambridge Institute & Balls Park College Hertfordshire. She has been practicing her art continuously since that time. Making functional stoneware pottery which Maureen has sold at numerous retail art/craft shows across Canada.

Although Barry’s career was in the aerospace industry with a Physics degree from University of Leicester UK. He has always been active in the pottery with particular interest in Raku and hand built forms including a wide range of tile designs.

Their daughter Sarah and son Richard have always been very much involved in the pottery. Although not formally trained they have had their hands in the clay since very small children. Sarah is very good at tile decoration and Richard helps with all the heavy jobs in the pottery especially pugging the clay.

In 2011 they developed the line of Celtic Art Tiles that have proven to be very popular throughout North America.   Check out these beautiful pottery tiles that have proven to be very popular in The Counties of Ireland!
