The history of the Claddagh ring goes back over four hundred years to a small fishing village nestled on the shores of Galway Bay. Here the ring became a token of love, when a seafaring Spanish goldsmith fell in love with a girl from the Claddagh village. He crafted the first Claddagh ring for her.Since that time the Claddagh ring has become a token of love throughout the world. Its symbols of a heart under a crown held by hands represents love, friendship and loyalty.
